Inguinal hernia – epidemiology, risk factors, treatment methods (literature review)

چکیده
Inguinal hernias (IH) are widespread in the human population and occur 27–43 % of men 3–6 women. Many risk factors for IH have been overestimated last decade: male gender is considered leading factor (the ratio between women approximately 1:7), less significant heredity (most women), physical activity (more men), age (peak prevalence occurs at 5 years 70–80 years), congenital or acquired connective tissue dysplasia, history prostatectomy, low body mass index.Hernioplasty with use synthetic mesh prostheses remains most popular technique surgical correction IH. Performing non-prosthetic hernioplasty only recommended if not available, example poor countries. In open using prostheses, different methods used today: Plug & Patch, Prolene Hernia System, Parietene Progrip, sutureless plastic according to Trabucco, Stoppa, preperitoneal techniques TIPP (trans-inguinal pre-peritoneal), TREPP (transrectus TEP (total extraperitoneal), however, none them showed advantages over gold standard – tensionfree repair Liechtenstein.Laparoscopic represented by TAPP (transabdominal preperitoneal) technique, performed through abdominal cavity, extraperitoneal) extraperitoneal prosthetic hernioplasty. None has a advantage treatment IH; therefore, when choosing method, surgeon should be guided cost operation level proficiency one another technique.

Suprapubic Fecal Fistula Due To Richter's Inguinal Hernia: A Case Report and Review of Literature
We encountered a 55-year-old man, who presented with an orifice in the suprapubic region, through which fecal material was discharged. On physical examination, the patient was unstable. After resuscitation, thorough evaluation, and laboratory and imaging investigations, he underwent an exploratory laparotomy. The ileum was entrapped at the deep inguinal ring, and there was some pus in the pelvi...
متن کاملBiological Meshes for Inguinal Hernia Repair – Review of the Literature
INTRODUCTION Biological meshes are a potential alternative to the synthetic meshes to avoid complications and are used in a contaminated field for incarcerated inguinal hernias. The clinical experiences gained with biological meshes for repair of inguinal hernias are presented in this review. MATERIALS AND METHODS In a literature search of the Medline database using the key word "Biological m...
متن کاملRisk factors for early recurrence after inguinal hernia repair
BACKGROUND Family history, male gender and age are significant risk factors for inguinal hernia disease. Family history provides evidence for a genetic trait and could explain early recurrence after inguinal hernia repair despite technical advance at least in a subgroup of patients. This study evaluates if age and family history can be identified as risk factors for early recurrence after prima...
متن کاملRisk factors for apnea after infant inguinal hernia repair.
SIR—We read with interest the letter by Kim et al. describing their experience with apnea and hernia repair in infants (1). We have also performed a retrospective audit, and given the paucity of published data, wish to present our findings which reinforce many of Kim et al.’s conclusions. The aim of our audit was to determine risk factors for spinal anesthesia failure and postoperative apnea. A...
متن کاملChronic postherniorrhaphy pain following inguinal hernia surgery: Etiology, risk factors, anatomy, and treatment options
Despite recent advances in surgical technique for inguinal hernia repair, chronic groin pain following the surgical repair of an inguinal hernia is not uncommon. Injury to the ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, or genitofemoral nerves is the most common etiology. Specific risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing chronic groin pain have been identified. Ultrasound-guided peripheral ne...
